Reference Register

Sign yourself in when you come to the library, and out when you leave. You do not need to borrow anything — this is for reading a newspaper, consulting a question paper, looking something up in a reference book, or simply working here.

1. What are you here for
2. Who is this
The GR number printed on your college identity card — the same number you give when you borrow a book. Your UserID or your name will also work.

Or sign in first — students and staff both can. If you are signed in, you type nothing at all: the register already knows who you are, and keeps a record of your visits you can see.

3. The book
On the cover or the spine. Leave it blank if you are only here to study — choose “Reading or study” instead.
What this is, and what it is not
  • It is a record that you were here. It is not a borrowing, so nothing here has a due date and nothing here can ever be fined.
  • It never shows on your borrowing record and does not count towards your reading score.
  • Only you and the librarian can see your own visits. This page does not show who else is in the library.
  • You can press Done when you leave. If you forget, nobody chases you — the visit simply shows as still open, and the time is left out of the average rather than guessed at.
